Awareness
Problem
Clean drinking water is essential for human health, ecosystems, and the environment, yet our supply of clean drinking water is diminishing each year due to hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a process in which high-pressure fluid is injected into rock formations to obtain oil and natural gas. This high-pressure fluid contains over 1100 pollutants, which can be introduced into our drinking water through well-leakage and improper wastewater management. Unfortunately, these chemicals cause health complications such as organ failure, cancer, asthma, and high-risk pregnancies. The goal of this organization is to provide suggestions on specialized filters that can protect people and provide clean drinking water.
TEDx Speech
Alisha discusses the adverse health implications of hydraulic fracturing as well as her progress in developing a water filtration solution during her TEDx presentation, "We Have a Big Fracking Problem!"
Literature Review
Health Implications of Hydraulic Fracturing of Water presents several chemicals in the hydraulic fracturing fluid and describes the injurious impact these chemicals have on human health.

Gasland Part II provides a comprehensive background on the power of the Oil and Gas companies and hydraulic fracturing's negative impact on the environment and human health. The film was Alisha's inspiration for spreading awareness on fracking and becoming involved in developing and recommending effective water filters.
